For the first time in our nation’s history, the US has become a net importer of food, meaning that we import more food than we can produce. In other words, we are completely reliant on foreign countries for our physical survival. This should raise alarm bells nationwide, because without enough food, the US cannot fuel a military for national defense during emergencies. Look no further than Kamala Harris’s globalist trade policies and wide-open border disadvantaging America’s farmers and food producers as the reason for this. When Donald J. Trump gets elected this November, America will regain its food independence, and become the greatest agriculture producer in the entire world.
Recently, Kamala Harris promised to never abandon agriculture workers. However, abandonment of agricultural workers was exactly what she did do her entire vice-presidential term. Just look at America’s trade deficit with the world. On her watch, our trade deficit hit a whopping $1 trillion. If we zoom in on our agricultural trade, the US is about to hit a record $32 billion trade deficit—the largest in our nation’s history. And, the grave danger that comes with massive trade deficits is massive job loss.
The 2022 Census of Agriculture revealed the dire state of our agriculture employment. Recent data revealed that since President Trump left office, the amount of farms in the US declined from 2.04 million to 1.89 million—over 140,000 farms. Agriculture jobs soared under President Trump prior to the China Virus pandemic from 2.3 million workers in January 2017 to over 2.5 million workers by December 2019—a net gain of 200,000 jobs. Under Vice President Harris, the US suffered a net loss of 86,000 agricultural jobs.
On top of this, Kamala Harris has allowed Mexico to rip our country off on agriculture trade, putting U.S. farmers out of business. Michael Joyner, the President of the Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association, stated that multigenerational farms throughout the southeastern US are being shut down because they are unable to compete with Mexico’s unfairly priced fruit and vegetable exports headed to the US. Mexico has essentially wiped out our entire tomato industry, while Biden-Harris appointees stay radio silent.
The US has also become 70% dependent on Mexico for fruit and vegetables where child labor and forced labor practices run rampant. Compare this to 1994, where the US grew 80% of its fruit and vegetables. Additionally, Harris has allowed Mexican drug cartels to participate in fruit and vegetable trade with the US with zero penalty, even when they brazenly send meth with their shipments to poison our people or assault our inspectors.
President Trump has been a longstanding ally for America’s agricultural workers as proven by his highly successful track record during term one. He negotiated more than 50 agreements with foreign countries to increase foreign market access and boost exports of American agriculture projects, in support of 1 million American agriculture jobs. He also secured nearly $30 billion in aid for farmers subject to unfair trade practices using revenue collected from tariffs paid by Communist China. During his second term, he will hold Mexico accountable for its agricultural trade violations, ban drug cartels from doing business with the US, and drastically reduce America’s trade deficit with Mexico and the world.
